Privacy Policy

Short version: Cliptych stores your work locally in your browser. It contacts external services only when you take an action that requires it — activating a Pro license, or connecting and posting to LinkedIn. Cliptych has no analytics, no tracking, and no accounts of its own, and never sells or shares your data.

What Cliptych stores on your device

Your work and settings are stored using the browser's chrome.storage.local API and live only on the device where you installed the extension. Cliptych does not run its own database or sync server.

• Projects — the carousels you create: name, caption, document title, panel text, template / palette / font / halftone / aspect-ratio choices, layout settings (slide numbers, footer, source attribution), any images you add to a panel, and the source URL of text you capture via right-click.
• Active project — which carousel the editor opens to.
• License — if you activate Pro, the license key, the device-activation record Lemon Squeezy issues (an instance ID and name plus the activation date), and the customer name, email, and product name that Lemon Squeezy returns for your purchase, cached locally so the editor knows you are Pro.
• LinkedIn connection — if you connect LinkedIn, the OAuth access token and your LinkedIn display name, member ID, and profile picture URL, so Cliptych can post on your behalf and show who is connected.

You can clear all of it at any time by disconnecting LinkedIn in the editor, removing the extension, or clearing the extension's storage.

Network requests

Cliptych only makes network requests in response to an explicit action you take:

1. License validation.When you paste a license key, Cliptych calls Lemon Squeezy's license endpoints to confirm your purchase. Lemon Squeezy receives the license key and an anonymous instance identifier and returns your purchase details (including the name and email on the order).
2. Checkout.When you click “Upgrade to Pro” or “Get a license key”, Cliptych opens a Lemon Squeezy checkout page in a new tab. Payment is processed by Stripe via Lemon Squeezy; Cliptych never sees your payment details.
3. Connecting LinkedIn.When you click “Connect LinkedIn”, Cliptych opens LinkedIn's official OAuth consent screen. After you approve, the authorization code is exchanged for an access token by a small Cliptych relay at cliptych.justdawn.store. The relay performs the exchange using a server-side secret and returns the token to your browser; it does not store your token or profile.
4. Reading your LinkedIn profile. Cliptych calls LinkedIn's userinfo endpoint once to retrieve your name, member ID, and picture for display.
5. Posting to LinkedIn.When you confirm a post, Cliptych uploads your caption and the panel image or PDF carousel to LinkedIn's official API using your token. Nothing is posted without your explicit confirmation, and each post is a single action you initiate.
6. Purchase recovery.If you use “Lost your key?”, Cliptych sends the email address you enter to a small Cliptych endpoint that looks up your purchase with Lemon Squeezy and emails your license key to that address. The email is used only to find and deliver your key; it is not stored by Cliptych beyond processing the request.
7. Manage devices.When you open “Manage devices” in the popup, Cliptych sends your license key to a small Cliptych endpoint at cliptych.justdawn.store/api/license/devices that lists, via Lemon Squeezy, the devices your license is currently active on so you can see and remove them. Deactivating a device is performed directly with Lemon Squeezy using the instance identifier returned by that lookup.

No analytics. No error tracking. No Google Fonts requests. No third-party scripts. No telemetry pings. No fingerprinting.

Data Cliptych never sees

• The pages you visit. Capture happens only when you right-click a selection and choose “Add to Cliptych”; Cliptych receives just that selected text and the page URL.
• Your LinkedIn password or login credentials — authentication happens entirely on LinkedIn via OAuth.
• Your payment details — handled by Lemon Squeezy and Stripe.

Exports

When you click “Export PNG”, “Export PDF”, or “Export .cliptych”, the resulting file is generated in your browser and saved through Chrome's normal download flow. Cliptych does not transmit exported files anywhere (posting to LinkedIn, described above, is a separate action you initiate).

• Resend— sends the license-key email during purchase recovery. See Resend's privacy policy.

If we change what data is collected or which services are contacted, this page will be updated and the change called out in the extension's “What's new” notes.
